Remove volumes from a SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment

SRDF/Metro Smart DR is a two-region high available (HA) disaster recovery (DR) solution. It integrates SRDF/Metro and SRDF/A enabling HA DR for a Metro session.

Prerequisites

The storage system must be running PowerMaxOS 5978 Q3 2020 or later. The SRDF/Metro Smart DR environment must be in a valid state.

About this task

To remove volumes to a smart DR environment:

Steps

  1. Select the storage system.
  2. Select Data Protection > MetroDR to display the MetroDR Environments list view.
  3. Select a smart DR environment.
  4. Click Modify.
    The Modify wizard opens.
  5. The Remove volumes from the Metro DR Environment option is selected as default.
  6. Do one of the following:
    • Create temporary staging SRDF Groups and Delete removed pairs are selected by default.
    • Click Next. The Select Volumes panel is displayed.
    • Click Select Volumes. Select the volumes to remove from the list.
      NOTE: At least one volume must remain in the SRDF/Metro Smart DR Environment.
    • Click OK.
    Or
    • Clear Create temporary staging SRDF Groups.
    • Click Next. The Select Volumes panel is displayed.
    • Click Select Volumes. Select the R1 volumes to remove from the list.
    • Click OK.
    • Click Next. The Select Staging RDFGs panel is displayed.
    • Click Select for the Metro Staging RDFG and select the SRDF group from the list.
    • Repeat for the DR Staging RDFG.
    • Click OK.
  7. Click Next.
    The Select Volumes panel is displayed.
  8. The Summary is displayed.
  9. Do one of the following:
    • Click Run Now to perform the operation now.
    • Expand Run Now and click Add to Job List to add this task to the job list, from which you can schedule or run the task at your convenience. For more information, see Schedule jobs and Preview jobs.
